When you think of Sevierville, the first thing that springs to mind is probably the mountains, nearby Dollywood, or the many historical sights in the area. You may not instantly think of tropical birds – but a trip to Sevierville will always surprise you! If you haven’t given Parrot Mountain and Gardens a visit, now is a great time to check it out.
Fun for Visitors of All Ages
Parrot Mountain and Gardens is like a tropical paradise – some have even compared it to the Garden of Eden. When you walk inside, you’ll see why. This beautiful garden is home to more than 70 parrots and tropical birds. Filled with gorgeously landscaped paths, where the parrots perch freely to be interacted with, this attraction is fun for anyone who wants a close look at something new and exciting. The birds have been handled since they were babies, so are used to being petted and played with. There are more than just parrots here – you’ll also see hornbill, magpies, and more.
What’s Inside the Secret Garden?
As you walk through the Gardens, you’ll come across what visitors refer to as the secret garden, and this is one thing you won’t want to miss – especially if you have children. Inside you’ll see the babies being handled and fed, and you can typically get a great look at how the staff are trained to care for the birds. Inside the aviary, you’ll also see a beautiful little waterfall, where you can stop to rest and enjoy the sounds all around you.
Groups Are Welcome!
The rare birds at Parrot Mountain and Gardens are an excellent thing to see, and a worthy highlight on your vacation to-do list. Children under 11 get a special rate, as well as seniors over the age of 65. If you have a large group (over 25 people, who must first make a reservation), then special group rates kick in. The aviary also sells birds as pets, and the trained staff will show you or your child how to properly take care of a pet bird. If you love the idea but can’t take a bird home, consider becoming the sponsor of a specific bird. You’ll help to feed, care for, and shelter a bird until it is able to find an adoption that works.
