Located conveniently between Asheville, NC and Knoxville, TN, the town of Sevierville is a historic and appealing spot popular with millions of travelers. Famous as the birthplace and hometown of country superstar Dolly Parton, it is also a spot where many spend annual vacations, enjoy destination weddings and even attend the many special events held here each year. This is why you may want to hold your next corporate retreat in Sevierville.

In fact, to help you in the decision making process, we offer four good reasons you should host your upcoming corporate retreat or event in the town.

#1 Location, Location, Location

We already pointed out its proximity to major metro areas, but it is also tucked along the edges of the Great Smoky Mountains and within easy reach of some of the major tourism spots of that area, including Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Your group can easily take day trips and tours to many of the most famous locations, including the National Park, Dollywood, the different mountain coasters, the enormous flea markets and a handful of irresistible museums and shows.

Flights are convenient, too thanks to the Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport being just one hour from town and receiving more than 100 commercial flights daily.

#2 It Offers Amazing Corporate and Meeting Facilities

No matter how large or small your retreat, Sevierville is packed with an array of impressive facilities. It is a very popular destination wedding spot, and so those same facilities can be ideal for a corporate retreat. As an example, there are sites like the Five Oaks Convention Center, Sevierville Civic Center, or the Sevierville Convention Center for your event.

#3 All the Things to Do in Sevierville

Though many flinch at the thought of a corporate retreat in a popular tourism spot, you shouldn’t let that fool you. The Sevierville area is home to amazing golf, such as the Sevierville Golf Club – ranked as one of the best courses in the region. It has two courses that make their way along the rivers and through the lush landscape, making them ideal for beginners and experts alike.

There is also fishing, including charger rentals and day trips, even in the national park area. And then there is the park, with a dozen hiking trails (nine of which are easily self-guided); you can do lots of team building out in the gorgeous Smoky Mountains.

Of course, the downtown area is also a great place full of activities that include shopping, dining and outdoor attractions. There are two musical theaters and several museums. There is even an underground cave to tour! Of course, you don’t want to overlook the mountain cooking and local favorites available in some of Sevierville’s amazing restaurants.

#4 You Can Book a Cabin

If you want less corporate and more retreat to your upcoming event, the Sevierville area is full of beautiful rental cabins. Many are designed specifically for large groups or families and can offer you a secluded and scenic spot to gather and reach whatever goals you desire.

There are more than four reasons to head to Sevierville, and we hope you make a point of booking your corporate retreat here and discovering them for yourself.

Everyone Can Find a Treasure at Sevierville’s Flea Markets

Flea market

Are you someone who watches “Antiques Road Show” in anticipation of seeing folks finding a treasure? Maybe you have a collection of items that you are always looking to expand? No matter why you might be interested in antiques, collectibles or “junk shops”, you probably continue doing it while you travel. In fact, treasure hunting during a vacation is a fantastic way to get your hands on real, authentic “finds”. This is a reason to head to Sevierville, TN where its enormous flea markets are becoming some of the town’s major destinations.

Flea Traders Paradise

The first of the two major Sevierville flea markets is the famous Flea Traders Paradise. It is just minutes from the downtown area and easily ranks as one of the fastest growing destinations for experienced treasure hunters and novice flea marketers alike. It features indoor and outdoor vendors.

The indoor area is around 40,000 square feet and is climate controlled year round. It offers paved parking and even a taste restaurant, The Paradise Café. Among the vendors you will find purveyors of local specialties and freshly made treats that are fantastic souvenirs or ideal for enjoying later.

You can take a look at the current vendor list ahead of time, though most are interior vendors. The outdoor vendors change often and also include a diversity of choices.

While there, dig into some authentic mountain dishes at the Paradise Café. It features breakfast options as well as luncheon and light dinner selections, and even sweets and treats to savor while exploring the treasures.

Great Smokies Flea Market

This is not the flea market closest to Sevierville’s downtown area, but it is the most frequently visited and largest flea market in the region. The Great Smokies Flea Market is open year round and is noted as a popular family destination in addition to a choice spot for bargain hunters. It features home décor, antiques, tools, sports equipment and pet products. It is a place where deep discounts on brand new items are always available.

This flea market is just outside of Kodak, TN and features more than one thousand vendors with both indoor and outdoor spaces. The indoor market is more than 200,000 square feet and offers climate controlled areas. It has ample parking, and even has spaces for buses and RVs. Unlike other destinations, it is pet-friendly and it even has regular entertainers and WiFi on the premises.

With a farmer’s market, an array of hot and cold foods available from local vendors and even access to clean public restrooms, it easily rates as a full day destination for your family or group. Their Liquidation Outlet is also a popular choice among locals, and not to be missed.

Don’t forget to take your junking or bargain hunting side along with you on a getaway to Sevierville. These two flea markets may even be your reason to pay a visit!

Here are a few (among many others in the area) to help you get started with planning your big day.

For example, there are the Five Oaks Convention Center, Sevierville Civic Center, or the Sevierville Convention Center for accommodations and the wedding events.

And with the mention of accommodations, remember that you can find an abundance of rental properties ideal for wedding events. Romantic, 1 BR cottages to enormous homes, are available from local cabin rental companies. These rentals are often ideal for the entire family.

Get Your Marriage License in Sevierville, Too!

While you can find many facilities and professionals to help you plan that dream wedding in Sevierville, there is one thing they cannot do for you – get the wedding license. Whether you are doing a small and intimate wedding or a large, destination event with days of fun and activities, you still need to get the official license.

Fortunately, Sevierville is such a hot and beautiful spot for weddings it has an abundance of places where you can get the license. There is their online wedding license center that has to be used within 30 days of your wedding, or you can pay a visit to the Sevier County Courthouse in Sevierville proper, or head to the County Clerks’ offices in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg.

With so many locally based and expert resources available to you, it is amazingly easy to plan a dream wedding in Sevierville. Turn to some of the experts recommended here and be sure to ask them for support in finding any of the other services you require, such as spa and beauty treatments, activities, and so much more.

Lip Smacking Mountain Cooking in Sevierville: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Posted on September 30, 2017 by Lauren Wilkerson Posted in Food & Wine .

Sevierville, TN dining breakfastOne of the most exciting parts of a vacation is experiencing the local culture. From the activities and destinations to the shops, museums and restaurants, a key part of any getaway is to delve as much as possible into the customs and culture of the location. That is why visitors to Sevierville will want to be sure to savor some of the authentic mountain cooking available at the local restaurants.

Serving up authentic mountain cuisine and local favorites, these are those “must try” spots for at least one breakfast, lunch and dinner while you are vacationing in the Sevierville or Great Smoky Mountains area.

Breakfast

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and when you are on vacation, it can also be among the most enjoyable, fun and delicious meals, too. Nowhere is this easier to see than at Courthouse Donuts. With its humorous tagline of “the taste is arresting…you be the judge”, you already know you are in for fun, and their donut flavors are entirely unique. They even have a “design your own donut” with dips, toppings and sauces.

If you want another type of authentic mountain-style breakfast, it can be pretty tough to match the options from Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant. Whether you want old-fashioned buttermilk pancakes or you want to order a “Smoky Mountain Biscuit Benedict”, the menu here is comprehensive and full of those local favorites you’ll crave long after you return home.

Lunch

The Applewood Farmhouse is also a great spot for lunches and afternoon snacks as it serves equally authentic lunchtime dishes with an “old time” flair. The Applewood also has its grill specializing in local meats, and you can even enjoy the special Applewood Julep if you’d like.

If you are looking for some authentic BBQ, then head to Tony Gore’s Mtn. BBQ & Grill. An award winning spot noted for live music and premium barbecue, it offers up famous Southern dishes like fried green tomatoes alongside the premium barbecue platters.

If you are eager to sample some locally made brews with your delicious lunch, the Casual Pint is a good call. Sample some of their barbecued chicken and pork and even some seasonal beer sausages! You can also hit The Diner with its homemade foods blending Midwest and Southern cuisine. Don’t forget to try their milkshake of the month!

Dinner

While you can make a return visit to the Applewood Farmhouse, The Diner, or the Casual Pint for a delicious dinner with local flair, you can also head over to Big Daddy’s Pizzeria. Though this may not seem like “mountain cooking,” each pie is made of hand crafted dough and cooked up in a brick oven. Specialty pies reflect the local dishes with Smoky Mtn. Cheesesteak, Porky Pie and BBQ 4 U among the favorites. The Chop House is an award winning destination noted for seafood but also for its premium meats and tasty, Southern-style sides.

Don’t forget to finish your experience of Sevierville restaurants with a quick trip to the Apple Valley Creamery for local ice cream and gifts.
